Who we are
Pick a Winner (“we”, “us”) operates the prediction game at pawgame.co.uk. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the site, why, and what rights you have over it. If you have questions, contact us at support@pawgame.co.uk.
What we collect
- Account data: email address, display name, and password (or, if you sign in with Google, the name and email Google shares with us).
- Entry data: which games you've entered, your weekly picks, lives remaining, and payment status.
- Payment data: if paying by card, our payment processor handles and stores your card details directly — we never see or store full card numbers. If paying by bank transfer, we retain a record that a transfer was expected and confirmed, not your bank account details.
- Communications: a log of the emails we've sent you (deadline reminders, payment requests, results), so we can troubleshoot delivery issues.
- Technical data: standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) collected automatically by our hosting provider for security and reliability.
Why we collect it
We use your data to:
- Run your account and track your entries, picks, and results
- Process entry-fee payments and pay out prizes to the right person
- Send you gameweek deadlines, results, and payment-related emails
- Keep the site secure and investigate abuse or fraud
We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising or share it with anyone outside the service providers listed below.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the site, each of whom only sees the data they need to do their job:
- Our cloud hosting provider — hosts the website and application infrastructure
- Our database and authentication provider — stores account and entry data and handles sign-in
- Our payment processor — processes card payments, where enabled
- Our email delivery provider — sends transactional emails on our behalf
We also pull public football fixture and results data from a third-party sports data provider, but we don't send them any of your personal data.
How long we keep it
We keep account and entry data for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterwards to resolve any prize, payment, or dispute queries. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see below) — we'll retain only what we're legally required to for financial record-keeping.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Ask us to delete your data, subject to what we need to keep for legal/financial reasons
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you think we've mishandled your data
